St. Kitts and Nevis leads the OECS in exports of goods and services to the US in 2013, first three months of 2014

St. Kitts and Nevis continues to be the leading exporter of goods and services to the United States than all the Eastern Caribbean nations in 2013.

According to foreign trade statistics issued by the US Census Bureau, the twin-island federation also leads the Eastern Caribbean nations in exports to the United States for the first three months of this year, 2014.

Figures reveal that exports from St. Kitts and Nevis to the United States for 2013 were valued at US$54.5 million or EC$147.1 million, while the combined exports of St. Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Montserrat, Anguilla amounted to US$54.3 million or EC$146.6 million.

For the 12 months of last year, Anguilla exported goods to the United States at a value of US$4 million (EC$10.8 million); Antigua and Barbuda exported US$9.6 million (EC$25.9 million); British Virgin Islands, US$6.5 million (EC$17.5 million); Dominica, US$2.6 million (EC$7 million); Grenada, US$9.5 million (EC$25.6 million); St. Lucia, US$16.5 million (EC$44.5 million); St. Vincent and the Grenadines, US$2.9 million (EC$7.8 million) and Montserrat, US$2.7 million (EC$7.2 million)

St. Kitts and Nevis is also the leading exporter of goods and services to the United States for the first three months of 2014 among the OECS states.

The federation exported goods and services with a value of US$13 million (EC$35.2 million) compared to Antigua and Barbuda, US$4.3 million EC$11.6 million; Dominica, US$600,000 (EC$1.6 million); Grenada, US$2.4 million (EC$6.5 million); St. Lucia, US$6.7 million (EC$18.1 million); St. Vincent and the Grenadines, US$300,000 (EC$813,000); British Virgin Islands, US$800,000 (EC$2.1 million); Anguilla, US$1.2 million (EC$3.2 million and Montserrat, US$200,000 (EC$542,000).

St. Kitts and Nevis companies exporting to the United States and their products are Lutron Liamuiga (dimmer switches and fan speed controls); Harowe Servo (St. Kitts) Ltd (small motors, PC Board Assemblies, Rotor Assemblies and resolvers); Kajola-Kristada (connectors, filters, trap and surface mounts; for the Cable TV and Communications Industry); CSR/DDL (CSR rum/brandy and Brinley flavoured rum products); Jaro Electronics (industrial motors and transformers) and Caribelle Batik, whose products are mostly purchased by cruise passengers and stayover visitors.
